SNC2D Unit 6: Independent Investigation (Culminating Task and Final)

Everything to finish SNC2D. Alone or in pairs, students choose an independent investigation linked to one or more strands: an inquiry with cheap, household-safe materials or a research investigation on an STSE issue. They write a proposal with a safety plan (teacher approval comes before any hands-on work), collect and analyse data or research, write a justified conclusion with error and bias analysis, and present their findings as a poster, slide talk or science-fair display. A model project (a roof colour inquiry linking albedo and light) runs through every lesson.

Includes the culminating investigation (suggested 12%, counted as classroom work) with a rubric, 16 investigation ideas and a project kit, and a final written exam of about 90 minutes (20%) across all four strands, with a worked answer key, matching Ontario's 2026–27 evaluation policy (65% classroom work, 20% final exam, 15% attendance and participation).
