ENG2D Unit 1: Voice and Story
Short stories and personal narrative: four classic stories, a heist-map approach to plot and a personal narrative in each student's own voice.

How do writers make us care about a character in only a few pages? Students read four public-domain classics (“The Monkey's Paw,” “The Story of an Hour,” “The Tell-Tale Heart” and “The Necklace”), then write a personal narrative.
Assessment of learning: a personal narrative (Writing) and a short story analysis paragraph (Reading), with rubrics.
