SNC1W Unit 4: Electricity
Static and current electricity, conductors, circuits, Ohm's law (by hand and in Python), series and parallel circuits, power, energy cost and efficiency, Ontario's electricity sources and an energy action plan.

Where does our electricity come from, and how do we use it well? Students make static charge with balloons, build circuits with AA cells, discover Ohm's law from their own data, solve circuit problems by hand and with a Python circuit calculator, and compare series and parallel circuits. They calculate power, energy, cost and efficiency, examine Ontario's electricity sources and their impacts on communities, including the First Nations–led Wataynikaneyap Power project, and explore storage technologies. Worked solutions are included for every problem.
Assessment of learning: an Energy Action Plan (home or school energy audit) with a rubric, plus a unit test with a worked answer key.
