ENL1W Unit 6: Make It Better
Research, design and persuasion: a problem-finding walk, empathy maps, fair surveys and interviews, a design sprint, ethos, pathos and logos, a written proposal and a Dragons' Den style pitch.

How can we use language to solve a real problem in our school or community? Teams find a real problem, research it with reliable sources, surveys and interviews, design a solution, then write proposals to real decision-makers and pitch to a panel. An original model proposal runs through the whole unit.
Assessment of learning: a written proposal (individual) and a pitch presentation (team, assessed individually), with rubrics.
