ENL1W Complete Course: Grade 9 English (De-streamed)
Everything you need to teach the new de-streamed Grade 9 English course for a full semester: six units, the literacy portfolio and conference, and a final exam.

A complete, ready-to-teach semester of ENL1W, built on the 2023 Ontario Grade 9 English curriculum. Every lesson is 75 minutes, and the day-by-day schedule covers 88 class periods, so it fits a standard Ontario semester.
Every unit covers expectations from more than one strand (Literacy Connections, Foundations of Language, Comprehension and Composition) and ends with an assessment of learning and a four-level rubric. The schedule maps all 59 specific expectations to the lessons that teach them. Original stories, poems, posts, proposals and images were written for these lessons, so there are no copyright problems.
Teaching outside Ontario?
A full Grade 9 English (ELA 9) course: short fiction, poetry, nonfiction and media; narrative, persuasive and analytical writing; grammar and vocabulary; discussion and presentations; a literature circle novel study and a portfolio. It fits Grade 9 English anywhere in Canada and Grade 9 English Language Arts in the US. Many texts and examples are Canadian and include First Nations, Métis and Inuit voices. Everything comes as editable Word and PowerPoint files, so you can replace the Ontario expectation codes with your own standards and adjust the evaluation plan to your school's rules. Prices are in Canadian dollars.
