Growing Success asks teachers to use professional judgment and to give more weight to the most consistent and more recent evidence, not just to average. Use the trend as a guide, not the answer.
Final grade (Ontario, 2026)
What's needed on the final?
Levels follow the Ontario achievement chart in Growing Success (2010): Level 4 is 80–100%, Level 3 is 70–79%, Level 2 is 60–69% and Level 1 is 50–59%. The + and − splits are a common convention, not provincial policy, so check your school's chart. From September 2026, Ontario sets the final grade for Grades 9 and 10 at 65% classroom work, 20% final evaluation and 15% attendance and participation, and for Grades 11 and 12 at 65%, 25% and 10%. Attendance and participation use the Ministry's level scale, and excused absences don't lower the mark. Check ontario.ca and your board's procedures.
