MTH1W Unit 4: Linear and Non-Linear Relations
Growing and shrinking patterns, first differences, four representations, rate of change and initial value, equations of lines, special lines, inequalities, transformations and points of intersection.

How do tables, graphs and equations show how one quantity changes with another? Students compare growing and shrinking patterns, classify relations with first differences, graphs and equations, and represent linear relations four ways. They interpret rate of change and initial value, write equations from graphs, tables and models, graph special lines, ax + by = k and xy = k, shade regions for inequalities, transform lines, and find and interpret points of intersection, with Python to build tables and find meeting points.
Assessment of learning: Which Is the Better Deal?, planning a school dance by comparing DJs, promotion plans and a snack budget, with a rubric. A unit test with full solutions is also included.
